Yoga for Abs / Core
Learn postures which target and strengthen you to the core!
Core strength is fundamental to all our body movement and is important to protect the body from back injury, to improve your balance, posture and will power. It is about making deeper muscles stronger and learning how to engage them in your activities. The core musculature of our bodies is made up of 29 pairs of muscles that support the lumbo-pelvic-hip arrangement which helps to stabilize the spine - hence the term "powerhouse." It is because the spine is inherently unstable that we rely on core strength to help keep us in general good physical health.
Open to all adults who are physically active and fit, beginners welcome!
Hatha Flow
Hatha Flow links the postures practiced in a regular Hatha class into a sequence of movements that "flow" with the breath in a more vigorous series. Hatha Flow involves moving from one posture to another with very little rest in between and creates a strong cardiovascular workout.
Variations on the Sun Salutation are often used as a warm-ups, followed by a standing sequence, balancing poses, and then seated poses. As in all Hatha classes, relaxation (savasana) ends the class. Hatha Flow is best suited for students who have practiced Hatha Yoga, are familiar with sun salutations, and are interested in exploring a more movement-based class. Hatha Flow builds strength, endurance, and a strong focus. The classroom is not heated, but the physical practice will naturally build heat in the body.
