Your Testimonials

"Nina, I want to thank you for bringing Kundalini Yoga to the area.  Kundalini Yoga has literally changed my life.  I cannot remember a time when I have not suffered from hay fever and blocked sinuses.  As soon as the snow disappeared in Spring, breathing became difficult, only to improve when the snow came back in December.  I lived on antihistamines.  As an avid outdoorsperson, staying in the house was not an option.  Several years ago I began taking yoga classes – I became a regular practitioner of Kripalu, but then began looking for a type of Yoga that was more mentally and physically challenging.  In July of 2008, I discovered the Yoga & Tea Studio, specifically, Thursday night Kundalini Yoga with you. What a difference it has made to my health!  With the (often) strenuous work-outs and unique breathing techniques, I am convinced Kundalini Yoga is the reason seasonal allergies are no longer a problem for me.  It is now November, and I think I had one week this year when I took antihistamines.  Many thanks Nina, your Kundalini Yoga class is great!"
Larisa Wheeler, Arnprior

"Yoga and Tea is a true gem in the Ottawa area, with its lovely setting and the atmosphere of acceptance that prevails in every class and with every instructor. A tourist in the practice of yoga for many years, I have taken my own practice to new levels, thanks to Nina and her wonderful staff. No more searching - I have found my yoga studio in Ottawa and that studio is Yoga and Tea!"
Michelaine Lahaie, Kanata

"When I was working downtown I enjoyed Kundalini Yoga at a location near my workplace. This type of yoga brought me great inner peace and new perspectives on how to view life and myself.  Now that I am entering my sixties and have more time --- I have been trying to find a great atmosphere and quality of Kundalini teacher in the west end . I have tried several places and finally found Yoga and Tea Studio.  The atmosphere is calm, peaceful -- a feel good place and the quality of teaching from Nina is excellent.
Thank you Nina and I look forward to many breaths with you."

"I am so grateful to have such a superb yoga studio here in Carp. I am 60 years old and have just now committed myself to spending time on my own health and fitness. I recommend Nina's kundalini yoga classes to young and to the getting older. The atmosphere is warm and serene. Each class is different but offers a complete but gentle work out. No judgment here, just smiles."
Susan Krongold, Carp

"I love my Wednesday Power class!  It is my time in the week to take time to recharge my batteries, and it gives my husband quality time with our infant daughter.  I also enjoy the size of the class, it really allows me to feel like the class is personal but that we all achieve things together.  I have done other power classes at other studios, but the teacher and the studio keep me coming back every week! The added bonus is that I live in Kanata and am about 10 minutes away from the studio, which makes things very convenient for me. Thank you!"
Rhonda Cummings, Kanata

"I have chronic back pain and have suffered for years with it.  This is my first time to yoga and I have felt an inner peace within myself that I forgot I had.  I feel more rejuvenated than I have in a long time!"
Bonnie Soucy, Woodlawn

"At last I can get out of bed in the morning and not feel so stiff I can hardly move!"
David Hinks, Carp

"During the yoga class I manage to detach from all thoughts related to work, past experiences and just be!  Learning to breathe is another valuable skill.  Sat Nam!"
Gabi Simion, Stittsville

"Thanks to Yoga & Tea Studio I stumbled upon Kundalini Yoga - and have been amazed by the positive transformation that has occurred in my life because of this powerful form of yoga.  I am convinced that it has helped immensely while recovering from a broken ankle and a recent second surgery for hardware removal.  Prior to the surgery - a special healing meditation (for me!) was incorporated into the Wednesday Kundalini yoga class... I had the second surgery on a Friday morning, actually did a 1/2 hour meditation/focussing on my breath prior to going into the OR which helped me feel very calm and relaxed.  I was determined and was able to get to Mary's Kundalini class the following Wednesday! I felt very strong and energized throughout the class.  I am so glad this lovely and peaceful studio and these amazing teachers have come into my life."
Chris Hume, Almonte

"Nina's yoga classes were the perfect way to get back into shape after pregnancy. The exercises were rigorous and gave me a good workout while still allowing me to recover at my own pace. The class combined theory with practice while cookies and tea at the end of the session added a personal touch. I would heartily recommend this class to all my friends."
Bojana Kolbah, Kanata

"I am 60 yrs.young, and have not yet found a yoga class that I feel did as much for me as the one Nina gives .....here in Carp.  I have tried a few others at gyms and none of them seem to measure up. The ambiance, enthusiasm and wealth of information that Nina brought to each class was incomparable....not to mention the yogi tea & cookies after class."
Pam Meunier, Carp

"I have chronic back pain and have suffered for years with it.  This is my first time to yoga and I have felt an inner peace within myself that I forgot I had.  I feel more rejuvenated than I have in a long time!"
Bonnie Soucy, Woodlawn

"We always appreciate the warm welcome on entering the studio.  We experience genuine concern for our well-being throughout the class.  We are grateful to Louise (Murray) in particular for encouraging a mind, body, spirit connection.  We have a gift beyond measure in Carp!"
Marian and Guy Brethour, Kanata

"I participated in a Yin yoga class with Stacey a couple of weeks ago and I just wanted to say how impressed I was. I am 27 years old and have been practicing yoga for the past 10 years. It was one of the best, if not the best class that I have ever attended. She ran the class smoothly and her personal 'touch'; offering ideas for adjustments and her calm nature was very much appreciated."
Meghan Gelineau, Kanata

Stacey Bolton, RYT, completed Hatha training (500 hours) in the Sivananda tradition from Stillpoint Yoga Retreat Centre in August 2009.

Stacey has a degree in Fitness and Health Promotion from Fanshawe College and has been practicing as a holistic body therapist for over 6 years  with a certification as a Thai Massage Therapist, Reflexologist and as a Reiki Master.  She has traveled throughout South East Asia and Australia learning and experiencing the ways of the East.  Ayurveda, aromatherapy, crystals, energy healing and yoga are all practices she incorporates into her daily life.

Stacey encourages her students to find their own balance in class and keep that awareness with them for the remainder of their day. One of her favourite verses is by Swami Lalitanada, “accept where you are now and continue to grow.”
Kimberly Mantas, RYT,  completed her Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Certificate (200 hour) at Upward Dog Yoga in 2009, after practicing yoga for over 12 years. A former competitive figure skater, and more recently a management and marketing consultant, she has teaches fitness and skating, in addition to yoga.

Kimberly teaches classical Hatha yoga to all levels and ages; from athletes to seniors with limited mobility.  She believes that the power of yoga is limitless and that yoga is accessible to all.
Beth Dimsdale, RYT,  completed her Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Certificate (200 hour) and is also a YMCA Certified Group Fitness instructor and CSIA Level 1 Ski Instructor.

Beth began practicing yoga over 10 years ago to help bring balance to her active lifestyle. During the day Beth works for a non-profit and has always been an active volunteer.  Her many passions include scuba diving, gardening, motorcycling and traveling.  Wherever she travels Beth will find a local yoga class or will simply roll out her mat and has practiced in some of the most inspiring places in the world.

Beth enjoys teaching to participants of all ages and levels.  She encourages students to find a link between their own passions and their yoga practice to bring peace and energy into their lives.
Su Li Ng, RYT, took her Power Yoga Teacher Training program (200 hour) at Mountain Goat Yoga. Her initial goal was to deepen her personal knowledge of yoga, but she soon discovered that through teaching, she could share her love of yoga with others.

Su began practicing yoga in 2000 when she was working as an engineer in the high-tech industry.  As a busy mother of two, seamstress and gardener, she finds that yoga is the key to the balanced life. When not involved with yoga, Su is most likely found covered with playground sand, garden soil, sewing thread, sawdust and/or splatter from wall paint.

Su believes that a yoga practice should be about the journey of learning; perfection is neither the requirement or the goal.
Tracy MacIntosh, RYT, has been practicing yoga for over 12 years. She completed her 250 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training through the Core-Elation Yoga Studio (now Elation Centre) in 2010.   Tracy has practiced many different types of yoga, including Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, Yin, Pre-natal and Kundalini Yoga.

Tracy is a Human Resources professional, and has worked mainly in the hi-tech sector for the past 17 years. In her spare time, Tracy enjoys gardening, painting, and spending time outdoors with her son, husband and dog. Initially, Tracy integrated yoga into her life for fitness and stress management. Yoga soon became a passion of Tracy's, as she realized the incredible benefits of yoga on her health. Tracy has used yoga to manage anxiety, and many other difficult life experiences.

Through teaching, Tracy would like to share her experience, and help others realize the benefits a yoga practice has to offer – with a goal of bringing about a natural balance of body and mind.
Kymberli Ker, RYT,  Like many other people, Kym's first experience to yoga was on the advice of a friend. It was a Bikram Yoga class. The combination of the heat, concentration of the mind and the movement of the breath drew her in. After years of aerobics, figure skating and running, she realized that yoga was what she was searching for. That was 10 years ago.  Since then, she has graduated from the 200hr  Hatha Yoga Training with Ottawa's Rama Lotus and 200hr Moksha Yoga Certification with Moksha Yoga in Toronto.  Kymberli continues to explore yoga in many forms, by also certifying in Yin Yoga, Ashtanga and Restorative Yoga.

In her classes, you will learn techniques to stay calm and focused, while stretching and strengthening your body through yoga postures.  Students will learn that breath is most important and everything else is second.  Be inspired by how your practice can evolve and where your breath can take you!
Maristela Petrovic-Dzerdz, RYT, completed 200hr Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Program with Rama Lotus Yoga Centre in 2011.

Maristela has always been interested in body movement – she practiced judo and basketball, and later found passion in ballroom and Latino-American dancing. After becoming a mother, she tried different types of exercises that, she found, benefited her body but there was always something missing; the substance, the food for a soul, not only for a body. When she was introduced to yoga, it felt like coming home. Yoga was the answer.

Engineer and Teacher by education, full-time working mother of two children, Maristela finds that the practice of yoga, on and off the mat, brings balance to her life – relaxation, focus, stretching, power and endurance. Yoga gives her self-confidence, calmness, compassion, contentment and tools to face life’s many challenges.

Students praise Maristela for her natural teaching skills, passion and ability to explain yoga concepts in a simple and applicable way as well as for providing a safe, enjoyable class environment.  Maristela’s goal is to spread yoga to as many people as possible, so that they too can enjoy the benefits of this wonderful art of living.
Ana Skarakis, RYT,  Zumba® Instructor  On a poverty awareness trip to the Dominican Republic in 2005, Ana was inspired by the locals, all ages and sizes, who were always dancing and celebrating life. She realized how engaging in rhythmic movement, being in tune with our bodies and expressing ourselves through dance, is incredibly beneficial to overall well-being and joy. Today, Ana has over 6 years experience in Latin dances, 2 years in Flamenco dance and a background in a variety of other dance styles which she has learned and practiced throughout her life. She encourages her students to bring creativity into their practices, be inspired and to use movement as self expression as they let go and experience new ways of being.

In 2011, Ana’s love for yoga led her to India where she immersed herself in an intensive yoga teacher training program so that she could teach and share the benefits of yoga with others.  She completed her Hatha Yoga teachers training (200 hour) in Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world.

Come try one of her Zumba classes! Be prepared to let loose and smile large as you hear and move your body to Latin and World rhythms. You will leave the class feeling your spirit lifted and alive!
